Us or them

Personally, I cannot think of a better way to divide our country, than by promoting biliguism in commerce & government. When one cannot speak English, and the other cannot speak Spanish, there is a clear division! Those are the linguistic walls that our government & business leaders actively seek to put up, brick by brick.

There are some, of course, that suggest that every person become bilingual and that will ease the way. They point to Sweden, perhaps, where many are reported to be masterful in 3 or even 4 languages. Yet Sweden is a tiny country, surrounded by other tiny countries that all have their own language, so it is more of a necessity for them than us. For exactly what advantage would bilingualism (as a nation) gain us? Most Americans have either never been to Mexico, don’t plan to go anytime soon, and don’t have enough dealings with that nation to make it worth their while to learn Spanish. Going on vacation to Cancun is just not enough incentive for most people to learn a foreign language!

Oh, but wait, they’ll say,we have so many new immigrants whose only language is Spanish – shall we “isolate them” by only speaking English?

Since the immigrant is coming to OUR country, where for today English holds sway, let us not isolate them, but let us make it plain that we wish them to learn the language of their adopted country. By promoting bilingualism everywhere instead of ESL and Americanization classes, we prolong division & separation. Is it any wonder that some Hispanic immigrants are slow to learn English? They are not solely to blame, when so much of society today is telling them it’s OK to keep their native language as their ONLY language.

As many Hispanics are already bi-lingual by necessity, they give up little. Those who do not speak English are at a disadvantage, to be sure, yet there are vast areas of the U.S. where one can live from cradle to grave without learning a word of English. We are definitely past the point where bilingualism has become the norm, yet that is not a good thing, for it does not promote unity & harmony.

What it DOES promote is a division along the lines of US & THEM.

Although it may be unpopular in today’s culture, I believe Teddy had it right:

President Teddy Roosevelt on Being an American – 1907
“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.

But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”

Nativist? You betcha! It’s like a breath of fresh air!

Mexico helping to shape U.S. immigration policy?

On February 5th, 2007, it was announced in the Mexican media that three members of the Mexican Congress would be traveling to Washington to work with Hispanic and other members of the U.S. Congress to craft changes in U.S. immigration policy.

The three Mexican congressmen, one from each of the three major parties, plan to fly from Mexico City to Washington on February 6th (Tuesday). On Wednesday (February the 7th) they are scheduled to meet with both Democratic and Republican congressional representatives. On Thursday the 8th the Mexican congressmen are to meet with U.S. representatives Joe Baca, Luis B. Gutierrez, Hilda Solis and Nancy Pelosi.

The goal is work toward a migratory accord before the U.S. presidential elections advance any further.

Other plans are to meet with Mexican diplomats, diplomats of other countries, Mexican organizations in the U.S., and to fly to Chicago and visit Elvira Arellano, an illegal alien holed up in a Methodist church.

Need I point out that this is blatant meddling in U.S. internal politics, and should not be tolerated?

What can we say about our U.S. congressional members who are hosting them?

And what of our president, what does he have to say about it? Would a president who cares about our sovereignty allow this?

this is from VDARE

Another outrage. Maybe when they visit Chicago, they’ll take Elvira back with them to Mexico… doubt it. What I would like to say about those Congressional members would not be allowed by WordPress, so I’ll just say “What else is new, coming from these people?”. History will not treat them kindly.

What kind of a President, or citizen, for that matter, would allow the Mexican congress to take part in anything related to U.S. immigration, and honestly believe the outcome would be good for America? Of course we know that “the good of America” is not foremost on their minds. Far from it.

When Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House, you can rest assured that America is one giant step closer to Doomsday.

yes indeed, someone is throwing out some fresh red meat on the subject of

the recent imprisonment of BP agents Ramos & Compean…. Check it out.

Hot Stuff!

my take: I am as interested as anyone in viewing the court transcripts, but not having possession of them, I still have an opinion :) . The very fact that 11 months after trial, the transcripts still cannot be obtained makes me view with heavy suspicion the entire trial. To me, this calls into question the actual role of the BP on our borders… If they do not have the power to halt fleeing suspects with deadly force, as interior police have, then exactly what is their role? School crossing guards?
For the Left, there is no doubt that anything which muddies the waters of border jurisdiction is GOOD, while those who wish the border truly secured are left gnashing their teeth in the dark.

Gentle Reader, if you wanted to truly send a message that America will not enforce her borders, could you think of a better way?

Concerned that lobbyists are actually participating in legislative sessions through their hidden access to lawmakers has led several states to ban instant electronic computer messages during sessions.

Two states—Colorado and West Virginia—already ban text messages during legislative sessions, with Colorado prohibiting them in the House and Senate chambers and West Virginia forbidding House members from receiving electronic messages during sessions on any pending legislation.

Dozens of other states have restricted the use of electronic devices, such as pagers and cell phones, in legislatures to avoid possible ethical implications but that leaves out one of modern technologies’ most popular new methods; instant text messaging on a computer.

This week Maine’s House of Representatives proposed a law to ban text messaging and legislators say it will prevent abuse of “secret, instant communications” by lobbyists who closely monitor actions by legislators in session. The bill’s sponsor, Democratic Representative Herbert Adams, says it is a serious problem that will only get worst.

Several Maine legislators recall numerous occasions last year in which lobbyists sent messages to lawmakers during official proceedings. During one House bill debate, lobbyists used their computers to participate in debates and one representative said “they were e-mailing members of the House, helping devise speeches and questions.”

If the new restriction becomes law, Maine would be at the national forefront of such reforms. Perhaps other states will follow its example since, these days, messages travel just as fast on a computer as a phone.

And you thought lobbyists only took them to dinner !

Unequal protection under the law?

•February 6, 2007 • 1 Comment

Lancaster, PA: The Constitution Party, the country’s third largest political party in terms of voter registration, warns Americans that the latest federal ‘hate-crime’ bill introduced in the House of Representatives is a dangerous threat to Constitutionally protected rights.

H.R. 254, introduced by Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee, D-Texas, is another version of proposed legislation passed by the House in 2005 and the Senate in 2004. Only strong public outcry and a Republican controlled Congress kept this type of legislation from becoming law. Now that Democrats are in charge there’s a tough fight ahead to keep this dangerous bill from passing. H.R. 254 would make certain types of speech a federal offense. So-called ‘hate crimes’ legislation is dangerous for a number of reasons, not the least of
which is the blatant unconstitutionality of such laws. ‘Hate crime’ laws would allow federal “thought police” to interfere in the law enforcement authority of states and localities – something our founders were clear was NOT to be allowed.

H.R. 254 would require every state to pass and enforce ‘anti-hate’ laws. It would outlaw stating a “bias” against certain ‘federally protected’ groups such as homosexuals.
Constitution Party National Chairman Jim Clymer warned “So-called ‘hate crime’ laws could mean the Bible would be considered ‘hate literature’ and preaching from it would be ‘hate speech’ because of references to religious teachings on homosexuality or other behaviors. The Orwellian implications of these types of laws mean Bible-believing Christians could become criminals simply because they spoke out about their beliefs.”

Citing a 2004 case in Philadelphia, where 11 Christians were charged under a
‘hate-crimes’ statute for peacefully protesting at a gay rights rally, Mr. Clymer, a practicing attorney, said “Law-abiding Americans became criminals because they exercised a right our forebears fought and died for”.

“By introducing the Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL) federal ‘hate crime’ bill into Congress for the second time, Rep. Jackson-Lee shows she’s bound and determined to stifle your First Amendment Rights no matter how many times she has to make a run at it”, noted Constitution Party Communication Director Mary Starrett who added: “The Constitution Party condemns H.R. 254 as an affront to our liberty. Today, ADL-inspired ‘thought crime’ laws are
stripping nations of free speech.

“In Canada and many European countries, it is a crime to use the internet to
criticize ‘federally protected’ groups, such as homosexuals and Muslims. In England, two men who called Islam ‘wicked’ were indicted under Britain’s ‘hate crime’ law and now face seven years in prison. Those horrors do not belong in America!”

Referring to the group behind this bill, Clymer noted: “Congresswoman
Jackson-Lee’s H.R. 254 is being pushed by the same group, ADL, responsible for the British law that says truth cannot be used as a defense in court. only the complaints by members of specially protected groups who say their feelings have been hurt are being allowed. The reality of what these types of laws are doing and have done to people across the world should be a chilling reminder to Americans to oppose these laws while we still can” warned
Clymer.

End of article

My take: There is no such thing as a hate crime. There is only crime, or “all crimes are hate crimes”. By selecting certain victims [ not certain crimes ] to be “more protected” than others by the virtue of having the perpetrators more heavily sentenced than normal, these victims enjoy a greater protection solely because of their race, sexual orientation or religious affiliation.

In fact I view this as another bonafide example of “creeping socialism”- where the rights of the group [ the afore-mentioned protected classes / group] trump the rights of an individual [ another victim of the same crime, NOT in one of the protected classes ]. Socialism comes in many forms, friends.

Not only does it go against the equal protection clause of the Constitution, it is un-American. And it looks to be a very slippery slope.

In 15 – 20 years America will experience the most profound demographic switch in its history. That is the time when Americans of European ancestry will make up less than 50% of the population. This is a fact based on the current rates of births in this country for different racial groups and will definitely take place. There is no debating this point.

At this time the nation will have a very rich ethnic minority feeling their influence and power increasingly on the wane, and an predominantly poor majority. History is unanimous in its judgment that such an arrangement is a recipe for disaster. The European-Americans will greet this day with nervous laughter hiding increasing anxiety while the now politically empowered “people of color” will feel their newly acquired power wash over them with euphoria. Wanting to stretch their legs and exercise their power, the new majority will look to enact measures to correct what they perceive as past injustices.

The first such measure will be to provide “reparations” for the ancestors of slaves. This might actually come to pass before the actual demographic turnover as minority groups work with liberal whites to pass such an act. The majority of European-Americans will see this move as taking wealth from those who did no wrong, to give to those who suffered no harm and will cause lingering simmering resentment among the European-American population. We can expect a movement whereby European-Americans become increasingly interested in their history and heritage. European-Americans will be especially interested in the history of the founding fathers and many historical groups will begin to form as white Americans begin to seek refuge in a glorified past. “European day parades” might begin to appear in some cities and towns, although they will be denounced as “white racism” among the non-European majority and their liberal white allies.

Counter-demonstrations can be expected which might shame many European-Americans from openly celebrating their heritage. The cry will go out that other groups are allowed to celebrate their heritage (such as the Puerto Rican day parades that occur in some cities today) but Europeans are prevented. Racial violence is almost guaranteed as European-Americans begin to feel alienated and excluded by the “people of color” who do not care about what a “bunch of white slave owners” did 250 years ago.

We will probably see laws passed that prevent any public building or monument from being named after a slave owner. Washington DC, the Washington monument, Jefferson memorial and a host of other structures will be renamed which will infuriate European-Americans. The non-European majority and their liberal allies will respond that such measures are required to move us beyond our divisive past and “let the healing begin.” To repair economic disparities we can expect the new majority to enact affirmative action legislation on a grand scale including quotas that enforce hiring practices and school admission policies that reflect the racial makeup of society. Large tax increases on wealthy Americans to fund education, scholarships, housing, and cultural programs will be seen by European-Americans as racist attempts to take their honestly acquired wealth and redistribute it among other racial groups.

At this time white business owners and CEOs, who, like Indian chiefs of old, had been content to give up ever larger expanses of territory to settlers as long as they were personally enriched by it, will finally be hit in the pocket book, and will begin to see the consequences of their actions. At the prospect of losing their wealth, armed separatist movements will begin to appear in the areas that remain predominantly white. Widespread violent uprisings will occur but they will amount to nothing as infighting among European separatists and the liberals who still side with new majority sabotage any organized resistence just as the “good Indians” repeatedly worked against the other Indian tribes who sought to resist European domination.

The liberals will be treated with polite condescension by the non-European majority, and will be tossed away once they are no longer needed to hold power. Increased alcoholism, drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, and violence will spread thoughout the “white community” as they dispiritedly begin to accept their new second-class status and sink into irrelevance.

Think this cannot possibly happen here? My question is – why wouldn’t it happen?

* We have already had many race demonstrations, riots, etc., although most of them have been peaceful only due to to a large police presence. More are coming.

* As of today, due to political & other influences, there is no single organization for immigration reductionists which is powerful enough, or rich enough, to effect any real changes. The most that has been accomplished [ no small feat, however ] is to hold back a tide of legislation to further weaken immigration enforcement and flood our country. S.B 2611 was defeated, but HR4437 was not passed either…There are almost too many immigration organizations to count.

* As mentioned elsewhere, la Raza is invited to policy decision meetings, the MinuteMen are kept out. Who is more favored in Washington? Be honest, now! Politicians know that if they actively support the Minutemen, they’ll actually have to do something which may be right, but very painful. If they support La Raza, they can continue on with a minimum of pain.

* It is simply a fact, that the birthrates of some ethnic groups are lower than others. You know who you are! Whereas, due to “population momentum”, other groups will continue to enjoy high fertility rates for decades to come, even though their own birth rates are falling as well.

**** What is naive & foolish, is to believe that should any such demographic change to occur, that life in America will continue to go on as before. Since it will certainly be a historic first, the outcome cannot be predicted with certainty. THERE IS NO GAURANTEE WHEN YOU START CHANGING ETHNIC PERCENTAGES. If you don’t believe any of this is true, I suggest that you take a trip to L.A or Miami.

immigration “fairness”

•February 1, 2007 • 1 Comment

I recently heard a co-worker state that “Muslims should receive an equal share of immigration VISA’s; that would be fair.” Well, my friend, I am here to tell you that immigration should NOT have fairness as it’s guiding light, and historically [ up till the Great Reform [not] of 1965 ] was not designed with fairness in mind, for good reason.

Immigration should benefit both the country receiving the immigrants, as well as benefiting the immigrant herself. Ironically, in the ONE & ONLY place where diversity should be a factor, it is not applied anymore. Currently a full 50% of legal immigrants to the U.S. are Hispanic, we receive 25% from Asia, and another 15% from Europe. We also have to factor in illegal immigration, since we are receiving more than 1 million illegal “squatters” each year. And of those illegal aliens, the overwhelmingly vast majority are of Hispanic origin. Where is your diversity there?

The main reason for diversity as it relates to incoming immigration is pretty clear – you don’t want to upset the social and ethnic fabric of the host country by having the majority of immigrants from one culture. And the reason for that is given is given by what I call “Kevin’s maxim” i.e, if you have enough immigrants from one culture, a critical mass if you will, those immigrants are going to clump together & resist assimilation [ a great topic for a future post ]. See: LA, Miami, San Antonio, etc., etc. If we don’t have assimilation, then we have a real problem.

While Miami may not in it’s entirety be rightly classified as a 3rd world within a first world, to paraphrase Tom Tancredo, certainly it is not what most would call a traditional American community.

It’s emphatically NOT only about being fair to the outside world waiting to immigrate, it’s about what is good for America. And looked at objectively, I firmly believe that the “Ellis Island model” is the only way to go. The goals of immigration that would be best for us, are not necessarily what is best for for others. And that’s OK – as far as immigration goes, we MUST put our own welfare as a country as a first priority.

illegal aliens protest enforcement sweeps … again

•January 30, 2007 • Leave a Comment

Here we go again category.

In today’s headlines, this takes the cake: “LA activists rally against immigration sweeps”.

For the cause

“A group of about 200 people marched through downtown calling for an end to recent immigration sweeps. Day laborers, college students, clergy and others walked from the 1600 block of West Mission Boulevard to Gordon Street chanting slogans and holding signs in both English and Spanish. Among the marchers was Roberto Aguila of Pomona, who is here illegally and works as a day laborer. The general construction worker said he joined the march because the sweeps are unfair and he would like the nation’s leaders, including President Bush, to address the immigration issue. “President Bush must realize there should be legalization soon so people can get driver’s licenses and identification cards and go out on the street without fear,” he said. Aguila said he came here from the Mexican state of Jalisco in 1992. He has returned to his native country twice but found he needed to come back. “There is work (in Mexico) but the wages are low and the cost of everything high,” he said. Once at the rally site, the marchers were met by three members of The Minuteman Project. Cherie Wood, who lives on the edge of Pomona, said the the actions of the federal agents were aimed at criminals. “The sweep was very specific and targeted murderers, rapists and people who have been in and out of jail,” she said. The sweeps didn’t seek to capture women, children or the elderly, Wood said. “ICE is here because they’re protecting the citizens of the United States of America.”"

Right on, Cherie. Well, let’s see if we can walk through this. Roberto walked into our country illegaly so that he could make more money, knowing full well he was breaking our laws. Now he sees a few of his comrades, perhaps, being swept up by ICE and cries foul … and he, Roberto, would like the President of the U.S. to address his “immigration concerns”. Oh, and also he would like ID cards and driver’s licenses for the illegals so that they can “go out without fear”.

Well, Roberto, that takes a lot of cojones, seeing as how you are not even supposed to be here. Paying taxes, are you, Roberto? And if so, since you are not in the system, then whose SSN ARE you using? Or perhaps the number is not real, either.

We can see from this incident just how good border security IS, since by his own admission he’s been back & forth twice.

Hey, asswipe! It is not the obligation of the U.S. to provide you with ANYTHING, except a short & comfy detention prior to a speedy trip back to ‘ole Mexico. If you are not from Mexico, have a good walk – from the Mexican side!

You see, gentle reader, this is what really makes me angry. It is not enough that they are here illegally, taking jobs from Americans, etc. Recently they have felt enboldened enough to clamor publicly for their imaginary RIGHTS, like old Roberto here. “Living in the shadows” ?! Give me a break! If they were truly “living in fear” they wouldn’t be putting on public rallys & protests.

You and I know, that the typical illegal alien has about as much chance of being deported as I do of being hit by a bus, on any particular day. Not gonna happen. Emboldened by anti-American groups such as La Raza [ the Race ], leftist Americans of all stripes, public officials, and the knowledge that they likely WILL NOT be deported no matter what they do in a rally, they feel free to protest.

Add to that, a “silent majority” of football-watching American citizens who would rather not be involved, we have arrived at the present insanity in bits & pieces. Our own government has allowed this to happen, no other group is to blame. I propose that the next time there is a rally against enforcement of immigration laws, ALL participating persons should be rounded up & let ICE sort them out – later on.

It doesn’t MATTER if they are hard workers, as our President is so fond of pointing out. So are Americans. Point to a country, if you can, and say “Well, THESE people over here, they are not hard workers. This is CRAP! By this standard, everyone in the world should be allowed to walk in and start squatting on the land.

It doesn’t MATTER if they are from Ireland, China, or Tijuana – if they’re illegal they need to go home, and apply for a VISA.

It doesn’t MATTER whether they are paying taxes, or not. Whether they are a boon or a ball-n-chain, on our economy.

Shame on you, Mexico, for your corruption & your poverty, for exporting your people like commodities. When you have a rich land full of good people. If we build a fence it is YOUR fault, not ours, Mexico.

Most of all, shame on the U.S. government, the corporations that corrupt our government, and the American citizens that support the lawbreakers.

Remember that we American citizens did not ask for a tidal wave of unchecked emigration- it was forced upon us by others. Keep that in mind when you wonder why we just don’t seem to want to learn Spanish. We already have a language & a culture, thanks anyway.

And especially remember this:

EVERYONE in the world has a right to apply to emigrate here to become an American citizen.

NO ONE has a right to cross our border without permission.

Who am I to have a blog?

I am not a high ranking member of government, nor a political pundit, I am not a history professor. I’m not the brightest flare in the pack; neither am I the dimmest. I don’t make a lot of money, and I could be called an “expert” in few categories.

What I am is often talked about but rarely heeded – I’m a working class American. I’m one of those “The American people” that somehow is a group well apart from our elected & non-elected officials.

And man am I pissed.

Every day a further outrage occurs in our great nation, another insanity perpetrated by some group or another, for this cause or that. I am well beyond shock, but I fight against the numbness that seems to effect my fellow American citizens, the paralyzing ennui that threatens to set in.

I blog because I have to have some kind of outlet, some way to clarify and vent my thoughts. I am in awe of the great blogs that are out there, but I am not in some kind of competition here. I do not intend to spend every waking moment working on my blog – it is really just for me. If anyone wants to comment they are free to do so!
